Manufactured Home Foundation Inspections

  • All foundation systems for manufactured homes, new and existing, must meet the guidelines published in the Permanent Foundation Guide for Manufactured Housing (HUD-7584), dated September 1996. A certification showing that it complies with this handbook must be obtained from a licensed structural engineer.
  • This means that the foundation must meet the criteria as set forth in HUD manual (HUD-7584). This manual requires a site-specific design for every manufactured home. Dead loads, snow loads, wind loads, and seismic loads must all be taken into account.

About the Inspection

  • When buying a manufactured home in Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, or the surrounding areas, lenders may require a permanent foundation certification to ensure that the home is attached to its foundation correctly, along with ensuring any additions are properly supported in accordance with HUD and FHA requirements.
